About FPPD Lessons Learned

Both government and industry have long recognized the need to document and apply the knowledge gained from past experience to current and future projects in order to avoid the repetition of past failures and mishaps. The purpose of the Flights Programs and Projects Directorate (FPPD) Lessons Learned Database (FPPDLL) is to collect Lessons Learned for each flight project at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. Once approved, the Lesson Learned is passed along to the Center Data Manager (CDM) for review and submittal to the NASA HQ Lessons Learned Information System (LLIS) web site where lessons learned from more than forty years in the aeronautics and space business are posted so that all can benefit from the experiences of others. The NASA HQ LLIS seeks to facilitate the early incorporation of safety, reliability, maintainability, and quality into the design of flight and ground support hardware, software, facilities, and procedures.
